All Fly Home
Al Jarreau.... I've seen him in France, in my favorite cities there actually, saw Miles in France too...saw Jarreau in New York, and many times here in CA. He is my favorite singer ...but this was my first album.A friend gave it to me for my birthday when I turned 18 if my memory is right... I played it till it stopped playing. The songs make me young again.
I took it out to listen to tonight after several days doubled over in severe pain from debilitating stomach issues...very frightening and difficult times for me right now..and I'm too weak to do a review justice but I have the kids laptop and after listening I actually felt better. He's a singer that touched down to earth from somewhere magical. Take "Fly", all I can do through pain is try to make one minute to the next and here I'm soaring through the beauty of a night sky with this fast, rapid lyric...it reminds me of his Take Five another beauty. Because I have had a lot of years listening, this album is a good friend, love to hear it, need to know it's there. Anyone would enjoy these tunes. I had to give up tickets to see him to friends when I last had surgery...have seen him in concerts maybe 15 times. Each time I just can't say enough that live he is ...well...my mind is warped by pain, but for me the experiences were my definition of spiritual...just seemingly this artist connects to love, gives it form...very transforming. You fly. And I'm in a time when that's a very welcome thought.
