Waiting All My Life - Single
Cheryl and JaVonne are primarily known for the gospel music they produce, however they are currently working on an R&B/Neo Soul/Dance CD. Their first release is entitled, “Waiting All My Life”. JaVonne wrote this song for Cheryl about 4 years ago and they have performed it here and there at various Pride events, to a very positive reception. However, recent events have led them to the conclusion that this song can potentially play an important and powerful role in the fight for marriage equality.
Prop 8 made quite an impact on them. It was their opinion, that the law is wrong on so many levels. Then shortly thereafter, Wanda Sykes came out and they were reminded that not many entertainers of color are out (regardless of the fact that there are plenty of R&B and Gospel singers who are LGBTQ). They also took note that there is not much representation from the LGBTQ of color community during rallies, marches, etc. Clearly the absence of Marriage Equality affects us all. It then occurred to them that their song could serve as an impetus to continue raising awareness not only within the LGBTQ community at large, but also among our allies within the African American and People of Color community as well.
So, they have decided to offer their song as a means of raising awareness for this crucial cause within our community. The lyrics have been changed, an awesome video has been made and now...we must work together...all of us...to change the law.
