The Revelers, founding members of the Red Stick Ramblers and The Pine Leaf Boys…“unquestionably the two groups at the vanguard of the Louisiana cultural renaissance” have joined together to form a Louisiana supergroup, which combines Swamp-Pop, Cajun, Country, Blues and Zydeco into a powerful tonic of roots music that could only come from Southwest Louisiana.

As individuals, they are each in high demand having performed and recorded with T-Bone Burnett, Natalie Merchant, Linda Ronstadt, Preston Frank, The Duhks, Walter Mouton, Mamadou Diabate, Cedric Watson, and Tim O’Brien to name a few. As a group they play with a sense of empathy and depth that can only be fostered after years of making music together. They have all appeared on the 2011 season finale of Anthony Bourdain’s "No Reservations" and they also were handpicked by David Simon (producer/creator The Wire) to be featured musicians for the third and fourth seasons of HBO’s "Treme."

"These tunes have worked their way into our live repertoire over the years simply because we love them. We all listen to the classic Swamp Pop bands while we’re on the road and once in a while a song sticks with us long enough that we want to learn the arrangement," said Chris Miller. "Each one has evolved into our own version over time. Having one foot in the history of SW Louisiana helps to keep our original songwriting grounded in the traditions we love so much. With this series of 45’s, we’re excited to share some of our favorite songs with our fans who might not otherwise know the classics."

The Songs

"Let the Good Times Roll" - "Our version has verses in both English and Cajun French - something that we picked up from Clifton Chenier (the king of zydeco music). The arrangement comes from Bobby Bland’s version of the tune with it’s uptown Chicago shuffle, a style that was influential on many Swamp Pop musicians."

"Grow Too Old" - "Written by the late great Bobby Charles, one of the most prominent Swamp Pop songwriters (most widely known for “See You Later Alligator”). Our arrangement comes from Tommy McClain (called the Cajun Rod Stewart) a living legend of swamp pop music."

"Lonely Room" - "Written by Jerry LaCroix- singer and tenor sax player of the Boogie Kings. Taking on this epic arrangement was a labor of love for us, and we enlisted the help of Rosie Newton (currently on tour with the Duhks) to flush out our string section.”

"Who’s afraid of Virginia Wolfe" - A popular soul instrumental (Jimmy Smith, James Brown) - we based our version on Clint West and the Fabulous Boogie Kings - Live at the Purple Peacock (The Peacock was a famous dance hall in Eunice, LA). We wanted an instrumental to introduce the newest member of the band - sax player Chris Miller."
