His love of music began when he began to study jazz saxophone at age 12. His early influences include Michael Jackson, Prince, Charlie Parker, Gerry Mulligan, and later A Tribe Called Quest, KRS-1, EPMD and other east coast artists. He began to develop his own style in high school, when he started freestyling with his boys. Later he would hone his skills at open mic nights and any cipher he could get in, most notably with the legendary KRS-1 and BET’s ex-Rap City host Tigger at the 930 Club in DC in 1999.
