Anima
In the cycle of eternal return, Anima explore the depth and the fascinating or appalling abyss of the powerful unconscious contents of man. Like a snake which bites the tail, rhythmic-shamanic groove create a myriad of organic cinematic soundworlds.
The powerful World Music of ONIRO is inspired by traditional tribal rhythm and multiple musical knowledge from around the world. Exotic instruments like the Didgeridoo, the Benta and the Dulcimer bring the listener to a place where symbols, feelings and images blend together to form a deep and profound foundation of self creation and imagination.
The use of primitive instruments in the music of Oniro is a primordial element of the sound. The Australian Didgeridoo played by Jean-François make you feel the depth of the groove, The Benta, a monochord instrument used in Jamaican "Deadyard" which was inspired from African traditional ceremonies create transe like rhythm. Other instruments are often used like the Djembe, the Balafon, the Indian Tabla and the Tibetin Bowls.
ONIRO was created by Jean-François Linteau in 1995 when he was touring world wide as sound mixer with the Cirque du Soleil tour Alegria. He traveled and lived in Australia with Aboriginal tribes to learn with natives peoples some knowledges of the Physical, Human and Sacred World around us. He also learnt circular breathing, permitting him to play the Didgeridoo (Circular breathing enables musicians to keep a constant airflow going through their instruments allowing them to play notes for a seemingly endless amount of time.).
