Formation of the Sun
Kobalt was formed in august of 2001 with a group of close friends and family. David Unger on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Sean Palsgaard playing lead guitar, Patrick De Rosa on bass and Josh Torres on drums. The songs played were Folk songs written By David Unger while he was in his mid teens. After a year and a half of playing, tensions grew strong between members and the band lost its drummer. With the addition of a new drummer things only got worse. The band felt split in two with differentiating opinions on the style of music being played. After Sean decided to move to L.A. for film school the band stopped playing all together. Patrick De Rosa and David Unger were now the only ones still wanting to push Kobalt forward. They began to play with Josh Torres again and refurbished all the likeable songs into a new rocking roll, alternative, trio sound. When Scott Berbick (a child hood friend of David Unger) heard that the band was now back in action as a trio, he began to secretly learn the Kobalt songs. One
