This new album is a quantum leap ahead of the 2011 release "Better Half". Sam writes: "I've had some time to settle into myself, and the new record reflects that. I'm more mature, and the songs are more me. I've never been so proud of anything in my entire life."
With influences spanning a broad scope of classic rock and country, post-gospel soul and radio pop, "Raise Your Flag" is a giant step for an artist trying to define his own genre-niche.
A vocal talent on par with the very best in the business, hearing Sam's voice is soul-stirring. The songs themselves are carefully crafted, with classic hooks and skillful instrumentation. A not so subtle reminder of what rock music was in it's heyday.

Lyrically, the album touches on themes like pride, addiction, romantic uncertainty, losing loved ones, and losing oneself. The overarching message however, is a positive one. "Raise Your Flag is all about becoming who you're supposed to be," says Sam, "and how difficult that can be, but also how empowering and enthralling when you take a big step in the right direction."

In the CD's liner notes, Sam wrote this passage:
